When Complexity Becomes the Standard: A Unique Transportation of an Agglomeration Press from China to Kazakhstan

In the field of project logistics, true expertise is confirmed by completing tasks that challenge standard infrastructure.

A striking example was the delivery by Terminal Logistics Services of an agglomeration press and its components with a total weight of 270 tonnes from Tangshan, China to Almaly, Kazakhstan. The key element — a giant weighing 135 tonnes and 5.25 metres in diameter — predetermined the highest level of complexity and the need for impeccable engineering support. The success of this large-scale operation was the result of careful planning and coordination. The total duration of the project was about 90 days, which included both the stage of obtaining all permits and the transportation itself.

The route ran through the Chinese cities of Beijing, Baotou, Urumqi, the Bakhty border crossing (China-Kazakhstan), as well as the Kazakhstani cities of Urzhar, Ayagoz and Karaganda. It was carefully worked out and analysed in advance taking into account all engineering, transport and logistics factors.

The company's specialists personally travelled to the site to inspect the entire route, identifying «bottlenecks»: bridges with limited load capacity and sections with weak infrastructure. Each such object required additional calculations and coordination with road services.

Particular attention was paid to the prompt obtaining of transit permits, which made it possible to avoid delays at the border.

To ensure transportation, a fleet of specialised equipment for oversized cargo was deployed: 
7 vehicles in China and 9 in Kazakhstan, their work was synchronised with the precision of a clockwork mechanism.


Terminal Logistics Services provided a full cycle of services, taking on all stages — from obtaining permits, providing special equipment to cargo insurance and survey support. Throughout the entire route, continuous monitoring of the securing and integrity of the cargo was carried out taking into account weather conditions and route features.

Despite all the challenges, the transportation was completed exactly on time. The cargo arrived at the customer's production site without deviations from the transportation plan and without damage. This project became a demonstration of the highest professionalism in the field of project logistics, where impeccable planning, engineering solutions and many years of partnership with colleagues from China merged into a single mechanism to achieve the goal.
